Taking your time (Hannah Coleman)

Recently I’ve been finding one of my main problems is with clients not coming back to me with any urgency after submitting CV’s.

The roles in question are those that I’ve been told “need filling ASAP” – so surely once I’ve submitted a candidate who I deem fits the criteria and after listing my reasons for sending their CV, you’d think my client would want to “see them ASAP”? This doesn’t seem to be the case. I often have to chase for phone and email for days on end to be told “oh yes, we’d like to schedule an interview”. The only problem is by this point the candidate has been pursuing other roles and companies.

I’m aware that responding to a recruiter isn’t always a top priority for clients, but when I am told a position needs filling quickly I kind of expect some urgency in the feedback – especially when it turns out they are interested in taking the application further. It leaves me questioning how important hiring someone is and the impression it leaves on the candidate.
