As we make a start to 2012 a lot of us will be looking to make improvements to our lives through New Year’s resolutions.

Healthy eating and diets consistently top people’s lists of resolutions. Marketing Week report on the government’s new anti-obesity drive from Change4Life, otherwise known as the ‘supermeals’ initiative, where certain supermarkets are offering discounts on healthy recipe ingredients. It has come in for some criticism by certain individuals like, Diane Abbott, the shadow public health minister, who has branded ‘Supermeals’ a “glorified advertisement for big business”.

Post-Christmas period, with the inevitable purse strings tightening and in this current uncertain economic period, the fact that there is an initiative where individuals and families can have access to healthy recipes at a reduced cost is surely step in the right direction?  It’s a huge campaign which had just been launched so there’s a way to go with it yet. It will be interesting to see how it progresses and see if people will adopt the idea.
