A rare opportunity for a leveraged finance lawyer to step away from law firm life and into a commercially impactful and intellectually engaging role.
We are working with a leader in financial intelligence, a specialist information provider that delivers high-quality trading and credit insights to the world’s most sophisticated banks, funds, and corporates. They are seeking a Senior Covenant Analyst to join their fast-growing team.
This role sits at the intersection of legal expertise, credit markets, and financial research. You’ll be reviewing leveraged finance documentation — primarily high-yield bond offering memoranda and syndicated loan agreements — extracting and interpreting key covenant provisions, identifying red flags, and distilling insights for an active and demanding subscriber base.
You’ll be in the flow of the market, contributing real-time analysis and commentary that influences trading decisions across public and private credit markets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review and analyse new deals as they break, producing clear, concise reports for a sophisticated client base.
- Identify key financial definitions, covenant terms, and any structural anomalies or potential risks.
- Write analytical commentary on leveraged loan and high-yield bond agreements.
- Engage with subscribers — from buy-side analysts to investment bankers — to provide insight and context on deal terms and market trends.
- Collaborate with a high-performing editorial and research team to maintain exceptional output standards.
Key requirements include:
- A lawyer with significant experience advising on leveraged finance dealmaking from a leading law firm.
- Deep understanding of credit agreements, bond indentures, and how financial definitions and covenant packages function in leveraged finance.
- Strong drafting and negotiation background; an ability to dissect complex documents with speed and precision.
- Clear, persuasive writing skills and a genuine interest in the debt markets.
The business offers a hybrid working model, with offices in Manhattan and Connecticut, and a culture that values deep expertise, commercial thinking, and work-life balance.
