With twenty years’ experience at the company, Rupert is Managing Director of Media Contacts, responsible for the day to day management of the company as well as continuing to recruit for select assignments. Rupert went from gardening to recruitment consultancy, being one of a rare breed of Londoners to be accredited by the Royal Horticultural Society. He has previously served as Chair of the Marketing, Media and Creative sector group of the REC, the industry’s leading trade association.
After a varied career involving fmcg executive search, IT contract recruitment and several years as a journalist, Julia went around the world for more than a year, chasing kangaroos and editing news for a Thai newspaper, and has come back to combine her previous lives into recruiting healthcare communications staff. Outside work, if she’s not in the gym or in the pub, she’s likely to be cooking or have her head in a book.
After graduating with a first class marketing degree, Rayhana re-joined Media Contacts where she also completed an industrial placement. Rayhana brings a combination of previous experience and educational knowledge. In line with sharing of office management functions, she also specialises in marketing – particularly SEO and social media marketing. Her projects vary from working on a new website to developing new advertising strategies. Outside work, she loves Zumba & yoga, shopping, eating out and researching ancient lifestyle – and anything that sounds interesting!
After leaving University with a degree in Culture, Media and Society, Jonathan moved into the education sector spending time working as an English teacher in South Korea and Spain. Jonathan recruits widely for the events industry. He spends his free time playing and watching sports – hoping that Newcastle United’s fortunes will improve – and travels as much as possible.
John is an experienced practitioner in public affairs and corporate PR, with a reputation for tenacity, creativity and affability. He led one of Weber Shandwick’ s most award-winning campaigns of all time, the ‘ We Believe in D&T’ programme for The Design and Technology Association which won a coveted Gold Lion at the Cannes Festival of Creativity. He was subsequently shortlisted in 2013 by Public Affairs News for “Public Affairs Consultant of the Year”.
When not looking after his four Jack Russell terriers, John keeps himself busy by getting involved in local politics, reading, and trips to the pub!
Charan graduated in geology in Leicester and then found her way back to London to start her career in 2016. Being naturally gregarious and chatty, recruitment was the obvious career choice and she worked for a couple of agencies before finding her niche and joining us here at Media Contacts, recruiting for event marketing. She also loves dogs, socialising and exercise – although her exercise routine these days involves more lifting of cutlery and glasses than the sort of weights she might find in the gym!

Before embarking on her recruitment career, Naomi spent 2 years with EMAP at KISS FM working in KISSTORY ‘s marketing function (and whilst she still has a very questionable taste in music and isn’t allowed anywhere near the office playlist, she is an unashamed, self-confessed events and media nerd).
Naomi has worked in both in-house and agency roles at a senior level for multi-site businesses where she’s lead teams to deliver recruitment projects from headhunting board level talent to delivering on high volume national contracts. Now, Naomi is responsible for all of our Events Marketing recruitment, from entry level to board level roles across business and consumer shows.
Naomi can advise you on how to hire well, cost effectively and can deliver results under pressure in a calm, logical and effective way.
Maz began working at Media Contacts after graduating from Edinburgh University with an MA in politics. Her varied background includes a year au pairing in Paris, a spell charity fundraising for a homelessness charity and running a pub crawl in her home city of Edinburgh. She recruits widely across the publishing and events industry. In her spare time you will usually find her cooking, watching films or touring the city’s Wetherspoons.
Michael has joined us for his university placement year, and has interests in marketing, HR and management. Following his placement year he will return to the University of Lincoln to complete his Business and Marketing degree. Outside of work and study he enjoys going to the cinema with friends, reading and cooking.
David is a seasoned recruiter, having worked with some of the biggest communications agencies, small boutique consultancies, global companies and start-ups. With experience across all sectors he now runs our Consumer PR operation.
David is your man if you want to discuss how post punk rock influenced the music of the 90s.
Alys splits her time here between helping with recruitment activities on the healthcare desk and supporting the rest of the business with content and marketing activities. In her spare time you’ll find her agonising over Arsenal, nattering over a glass of wine or pouring over a good book.
After getting her BA in Sociology and Social Policy, from the University of Leeds, Moradeyo embarked on a few professional and personal adventures, one of which was moving to sunny Seville for three months! Now, her role within the Events and Exhibitions team, at Media Contacts, is perfectly complimented by her love of travel, food and socialising!
Graduating with a degree in English Literature from Exeter, Ted now works as a resourcer in the media and events industries.
He spends his free time cycling, playing tennis, cooking, and trying to plough through the unread books on his bookshelf.
Marcus has been in recruitment in for 2 years, starting out in the financial services sector. Having switched over to recruiting sales positions for media owners, he works with a variety of events and publishing companies. Outside of recruitment Marcus enjoys playing rugby, boxing and hanging out with his mates in the pub.
